This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to access information and update knowledge of the beauty industry and relevant industry legislation.It requires the ability to research beauty industry trends, and its relationship to other industries, and how beauticians and beauty therapists can use this information to enhance own work performance.This unit applies to beauticians, beauty therapist, nail technicians, make-up artists and retail cosmetic assistants who work in beauty and nail salons, and in beauty retail outlets. In this environment they make routine decisions within a defined range but are expected to be up-to-date with industry trends.The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
