Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required by performers, such as singers, actors, dancers, circus performers and comedians, to participate in rehearsals for performances. Techniques employed include acting, singing, dancing, movement, mime, acrobatics and improvisation.The unit applies to those who are performers and who rehearse for performances in commercial, competitive or community settings and would usually be working in ensembles, partnerships or performing solo. In a rehearsal context performers are collaborating with each other and working under the direction of an artistic director or producer.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Analyse requirements for rehearsals
- 1.1 Clarify purpose and requirements of rehearsals
- 1.2 Consult with members of the rehearsal and production team to identify issues requiring attention
- 1.3 Confirm protocols and behaviour expected at rehearsals as required
- 1.4 Determine the level of skills progression expected throughout the rehearsal period
2. Prepare for rehearsals
- 2.1 Demonstrate physical fitness for rehearsals
- 2.2 Confirm own role in performances as required
- 2.3 Refine own performance techniques for rehearsals as required
3. Participate in rehearsals
- 3.1 Establish work relationships with members of the rehearsal team as required
- 3.2 Practise own role in line with performance requirements
- 3.3 Undertake rehearsals in line with performance requirements
- 3.4 Seek constructive feedback during rehearsals from required personnel and adapt performance as required
4. Contribute to debriefs after rehearsals
- 4.1 Review progress in association with other performers and identify factors to improve performance
- 4.2 Respond to analyses of own performance and adjust as required
