This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to service mine plant and equipment in the resources and infrastructure industries.It applies to those working in operational roles. They generally work under supervision to undertake a prescribed range of functions involving known routines and procedures and take responsibility for the quality of work outcomes.Licensing, legislative and certification requirements may apply to this unit and can vary between states, territories and industry sectors. Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Plan and prepare for servicing plant and equipment
- 1.1 Obtain, interpret and confirm work requirements
- 1.2 Access, interpret and apply documentation required to apply service mine plant and equipment
- 1.3 Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures according to workplace procedures
- 1.4 Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for the work activity
- 1.5 Receive, interpret and confirm shift changeover details
- 1.6 Access and apply safety information and procedures
- 1.7 Communicate and coordinate with others, to arrange preparatory activities, timing and location of servicing
- 1.8 Conduct prestart checks on the service vehicle
- 1.9 Check and top up service vehicle levels of fuel, lubricants and water
- 1.10 Identify and source replacement parts and service tools
- 1.11 Obtain and interpret emergency procedures, and be prepared for emergency situations
2. Service mine plant and equipment
- 2.1 Conduct start-up, park-up and shut-down procedures on service vehicle according to workplace procedures
- 2.2 Conduct servicing of plant and equipment according to workplace procedures
- 2.3 Dispose of used oils and lubricants according to workplace procedures
- 2.4 Process written maintenance records according to workplace procedures
