Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to conduct stockpile reclaiming operations in coal mining, metalliferous mining and extractive industries. It involves carrying out loading, sampling and despatching of materials.The unit applies to those working in operational or supervisory roles. They generally perform a broad range of operational activities in their area of responsibility and are responsible for monitoring a safe work environment.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1. Plan and prepare to conduct stockpile reclaiming operations
  • 1.1 Obtain, interpret and confirm work requirements
  • 1.2 Access, interpret and apply conduct stockpile reclaiming operations documentation and confirm the work activity is compliant
  • 1.3 Access, interpret and apply geological and survey data required to complete work requirements
  • 1.4 Carry out worksite inspection and identify potential hazards and environmental issues, implement control measures within scope of own role and escalate where required
  • 1.5 Select and wear personal protective equipment according to site and work requirements
  • 1.6 Communicate work requirements to others
  • 1.7 Obtain and interpret emergency procedures and identify steps required to respond to emergencies
2. Operate plant and equipment
  • 2.1 Coordinate activities with others at the site prior to commencement of, during, and on completion of the work activity
  • 2.2 Carry out pre-start and start-up procedures according to manufacturer specifications and site requirements
  • 2.3 Determine plant and equipment operating capacity and limitations
  • 2.4 Operate plant and equipment controls to reclaim materials according to manufacturer specifications and job requirements
  • 2.5 Act on and report issues with monitoring systems and alarms
  • 2.6 Load, sample and despatch specified materials according to job requirements
  • 2.7 Complete work plan and confirm planned outcomes are achieved
  • 2.8 Carry out park-up and shut down procedures according to manufacturer specifications and site requirements
3. Carry out reporting and operator maintenance for stockpile reclaiming operations
  • 3.1 Carry out reporting and process documents according to site requirements
  • 3.2 Conduct plant and equipment inspections and fault-finding according to manufacturer specifications and site requirements
  • 3.3 Inspect the condition of structures and components with visual checks for faults and wear
