Description
This qualification reflects the role of individuals such as shot firers, drillers and production operators, working in underground metalliferous mining, who perform tasks involving a broad range of skilled applications in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgement in selecting equipment, services or contingency measures.

Packaging Rules
The following provides the packaging rules for this qualification, followed by the list of relevant units of competency.The qualification has core and elective units of competency that cover the skills for four specialist and one general underground metalliferous mining streams. The core and elective unit requirements of one of the following streams must be met for this qualification to be awarded.

The achievement of a specialisation will be identified on testamurs as follows:

- RII30320 Certificate III in Underground Metalliferous Mining (Development)
- RII30320 Certificate III in Underground Metalliferous Mining (Production)
- RII30320 Certificate III in Underground Metalliferous Mining (Services and Infrastructure)
- RII30320 Certificate III in Underground Metalliferous Mining (General)
To be awarded the Certificate III in Underground Metalliferous Mining (Charge Up) the following packaging rules apply:
Total number of units = Fourteen (14)
- six (6) core units plus
- eight (8) elective units, of which:
- at least four (4) must be from Group A
- no more than four (4) may be from Group E and/or Group F
- no more than two (2) may be from elsewhere in this or any other currently endorsed training package, or from an accredited course.
To be awarded the Certificate III in Underground Metalliferous Mining (Development) the following packaging rules apply:
Total number of units = Fourteen (14)
- six (6) core units plus
- eight (8) elective units, of which:
- at least four (4) must be from Group B
- no more than four (4) may be from Group E and/or Group F
- no more than two (2) may be from elsewhere in this or any other currently endorsed training package, or from an accredited course.
To be awarded the Certificate III in Underground Metalliferous Mining (Production) the following packaging rules apply:
Total number of units = Fourteen (14)
- six (6) core units plus
- eight (8) elective units, of which:
- at least four (4) must be from Group C
- no more than four (4) may be from Group E and/or Group F
- no more than two (2) may be from elsewhere in this or any other currently endorsed training package, or from an accredited course.

Total number of units = Fourteen (14)
- six (6) core units plus
- eight (8) elective units, of which:
- at least four (4) must be from Group E
- no more than four (4) may be from Group F
- no more than two (2) may be from elsewhere in this or any other currently endorsed training package, or from an accredited course.
Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the overall integrity of the AQF alignment, not duplicate the outcome of another unit chosen for the qualification, and contribute to a valid industry-supported vocational outcome.
The elective bank contains both licensed and non-licensed units of competency relating to high risk work in the resources and infrastructure industry. To be appointed under any statutory requirements in related roles, units of competency should be selected to meet the state/territory licensing requirements.
There are prerequisites to imported units listed in this qualification. Where a unit is imported as an elective care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisites specified are complied with.
