Description
This unit of competency covers the skills and knowledge required to fit 12 V cable systems in a recreational vehicle. The work will be carried out in a recreational vehicle manufacturing facility.This unit of competency covers the preparation for, fitting of and clean-up after the fitting of the 12 V cable system.The operator will be required to work to procedures, and follow plans/specifications for what is required.This unit of competency applies to an individual working alone or as part of a team/work group and working in liaison with other shift team members.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Plan the work
- 1.1 Review the requirements of the work
- 1.2 Check required tools and jigs are available at the worksite
- 1.3 Check required cable is available at the worksite
- 1.4 Check the 12 V installations/appliances have been installed
- 1.5 Identify any hazards and the related hazard controls
- 1.6 Check the hazard controls are in place and operational
- 1.7 Query any items that are different to usual and clarify requirements
2 Fit the 12 V cable system in accordance with procedures
- 2.1 Use relevant hazard controls, including personal protective equipment (PPE)
- 2.2 Run cable from supply to installation/appliance
- 2.3 Run cable to/from circuit breakers
- 2.4 Terminate cable as required
- 2.5 Drill holes/make any penetrations required in frame
- 2.6 Fix all cables in position as required
- 2.7 Complete fitting of cable as required
3 Finish 12 V cable system fit
- 3.1 Check 12 V cable system has been fitted correctly and make any required adjustments
- 3.2 Clean up recreational vehicle and work area, leaving it ready for the next job
- 3.3 Segregate and handle waste in accordance with procedures
- 3.4 Complete any required documentation/records
