Description
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to install vision equipment and conduct pre-production or event checks according to vision system plans.At this level, individuals are required to use some discretion and judgement and operate under broad supervision within an established framework of plans and procedures.The National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work applies to persons performing dogging and rigging work. Completion of the following units is required for certification at either basic, intermediate or advanced levels:CPCCLDG3001A Licence to perform doggingCPCCLRG3001A Licence to perform rigging basic levelCPCCLRG3002A Licence to perform rigging intermediate levelCPCCLRG4001A Licence to perform rigging advanced levelSets and staging for some performances or events may fall within the definition of construction work. If so, people entering a construction site are required to complete the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (Australian Safety Compensation Council, May 2007).Achievement of the unit ‘CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry’ fulfils this requirement.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Prepare for vision system installation
- 1.1 Confirm vision system requirements in consultation with relevant personnel and with reference to vision system plans
- 1.2 Calculate rigging, cabling and power requirements according to vision system plans
- 1.3 Assemble and test equipment, accessories and consumables to ensure they are working and prepared for installation
- 1.4 Recognise faults and take appropriate remedial action
- 1.5 Pre-rig vision system equipment as specified in vision system plans and according to licensing regulations
- 1.6 Prepare extension leads, looms and cables according to design specifications and regulatory requirements
- 1.7 Construct or devise effects and masking as required
- 1.8 Establish contingency plans in the event of equipment malfunction and prepare backup equipment
2. Complete installation tasks
- 2.1 Determine the positioning of, and support requirements for, vision system equipment
- 2.2 Install supports or check that rigging and mounts have been installed in the appropriate position
- 2.3 Use safe lifting and handling techniques to install primary and backup vision systems
- 2.4 Lay and secure power and other cables to avoid damage and hazardous situations
- 2.5 Complete work tasks within production or event deadlines
3. Test equipment
- 3.1 Patch and test equipment and accessories to ensure operational efficiency and working order
- 3.2 Check operation of equipment in conjunction with other technical areas as required
- 3.3 Identify problems and modify installation or technical elements of equipment in consultation with relevant personnel
- 3.4 Complete and distribute workplace documentation as required
