Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to install vision equipment and conduct pre-production or event checks according to vision system plans.The unit applies to those who use some discretion and judgement and operate under broad supervision within an established framework of plans and workplace procedures.The National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work applies to persons performing dogging and rigging work. Completion of the following units is required for certification at either basic, intermediate or advanced levels:CPCCLDG3001 Licence to perform doggingCPCCLRG3001 Licence to perform rigging basic levelCPCCLRG3002 Licence to perform rigging intermediate levelCPCCLRG4001 Licence to perform rigging advanced levelSets and staging for some performances or events may fall within the definition of construction work. If so, people entering a construction site are required to complete the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (Australian Safety Compensation Council, May 2007).Achievement of the unit ‘CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry’ fulfils this requirement.Users are advised to check with the relevant licensing authority for requirements.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Prepare for vision system installation
  • 1.1 Confirm vision system plans and specifications with required personnel
  • 1.2 Calculate rigging, cabling and power requirements according to vision system plans
  • 1.3 Assemble equipment, accessories and consumables and test they are working and prepared for installation
  • 1.4 Pre-rig vision system equipment as specified in plans and according to licensing regulations
  • 1.5 Prepare extension leads, looms and cables according to design specifications and regulatory requirements
  • 1.6 Construct or devise effects and masking where required
  • 1.7 Establish contingency plans in the event of equipment malfunction and prepare backup equipment
2. Complete installation tasks
  • 2.1 Determine the positioning and support requirements for vision systems
  • 2.2 Install supports and check that rigging and mounts have been installed in the required position
  • 2.3 Install primary and backup vision systems using safe lifting and handling techniques
  • 2.4 Lay and secure power and other cables according to safety requirements
  • 2.5 Complete work tasks within required timelines
3. Test equipment
  • 3.1 Check operational efficiency and working order of equipment and patch equipment where required
  • 3.2 Identify problems and modify installation or technical elements of equipment in consultation with required personnel
  • 3.3 Complete and distribute workplace documentation where required
