Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to undertake the operation of all high voltage (H.V.) condition changing apparatus.H.V. condition changing apparatus can include on- and off-load transformer tap changers, capacitor banks, rotary converters, voltage regulators, reactors, current limiters, rectifiers and transformers. H.V. changing apparatus works within system parameters such as voltage, current, frequency, volt ampere reactive load and equipment capability. Competency in this unit requires the ability to plan and prepare work, operate H.V. condition change apparatus and report on H.V. condition during operation. Individuals will, in general, work under supervision, in a power generation facility as an operator.Power generation plant operators are trained and authorised to isolate, prepare plant and issue permits to work.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

  • 1.1 Work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations, legislative requirements, codes of practice, manufacturers’ recommendations and specifications, environmental requirements and workplace procedures are identified, applied and monitored
  • 1.2 Location of H.V. condition changing apparatus is determined from plans, drawings, system diagrams and maps in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 1.3 H.V. condition changing apparatus for operation is identified and confirmed with relevant personnel in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 1.4 Condition and status of H.V. condition changing apparatus is determined visually in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 1.5 H.V. condition changing apparatus is prepared for operation in accordance with workplace procedures
2 Conduct H.V. condition changing apparatus operation
