Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to create an arts and health program based on participants needs, program requirements and objectives.The unit applies to those who, as arts and health practitioners in a range of arts and health promotion contexts, develop creative programs that support sustainable health care practices. The programs apply to a range of settings within the arts and health field, including hospitals, residential units, daycare centres, hospices, and community based health care settings.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Establish nature and scope of arts and health program
- 1.1 Identify program objectives and requirements
- 1.2 Review program participant characteristics and any physical and health limitations according to regulatory requirements and codes of practice
- 1.3 Research potential program components and methodology, and assess their benefits, limitations and risks
- 1.4 Select and document proposed cost-effective approach to program according to organisational policies and procedures
2. Establish requirements of arts and health program that achieves intended outcomes
- 2.1 Identify specific components required to achieve program aims
- 2.2 Reflect on participant and context requirements
- 2.3 Identify methods of engaging participants and maximising program participation
- 2.4 Specify activities that target identified components and engagement methods applicable to limitations of participant
3. Create arts and health program
- 3.1 Draft program in line with established requirements and according to organisational procedures
- 3.2 Outline implementation guidelines for program with required personnel
- 3.3 Seek feedback and adjust program as required according to organisational policies and procedures
- 3.4 Distribute program to required personnel
