Description
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to load and unload passengers safely onto and from a ride, and to observe the operation of the ride.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Load the ride.
- 1.1 Perform loading procedures according to safety and organisational requirements.
- 1.2 Load ride to the maximum number of persons approved to ride.
- 1.3 Check that all riders are secured according to ride requirements.
- 1.4 Advise riders to secure articles that may come loose while riding.
- 1.5 Treat customers in a courteous and friendly manner.
- 1.6 Check load requirements prior to the start of the ride.
2. Observe the ride.
- 2.1 Continuously observe ride according to safety procedures.
- 2.2 Identify quality control issues or problems during ride and advise appropriate supervisor immediately.
- 2.3 Follow emergency procedures as required.
3. Unload the ride.
- 3.1 Ensure ride is fully completed before unloading.
- 3.2 Follow unloading procedures according to safety and organisational requirements.
- 3.3 Unload customers in a courteous and friendly manner.

Critical aspects for assessment and evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit
Evidence of the ability to:
follow ride loading and unloading procedures across multiple operations of one or more rides (as required by job role)
perform safety and emergency procedures
demonstrate knowledge of the health, safety and emergency issues and procedures for ride operations.
Context of and specific resources for assessment
Assessment must ensure use of:
operational rides and associated safety equipment
ride loading documentation or procedures
commercially realistic numbers of customers.
Method of assessment
Assessment methods must be chosen to ensure that the skills required to load and unload a ride can be practically demonstrated. Methods must include assessment of knowledge as well as assessment of practical skills. The following examples are appropriate for this unit:
direct observation of the individual safely loading and unloading a ride
direct observation of the individual performing actual or simulated emergency procedures
written or oral questioning to assess knowledge of work health and safety issues, equipment features and capacity limitations
use of problemsolving activities to assess ability to respond to various situations during the loading and unloading of a ride location, especially emergency aspects
review of portfolios of evidence and thirdparty workplace reports of onthejob performance by the individual.

The assessor should design integrated assessment activities to holistically assess this unit with other units relevant to the industry sector, workplace and job role, for example:
