Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to establish business requirements and supply criteria, and then to assess and compare different suppliers and place orders for textile materials and resources.This unit applies to individuals who analyse and compare information from a range of different sources to determine optimum supply arrangements. They do this within established business objectives and frameworks.No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.

1. Establish business requirements and supply criteria
  • 1.1 Identify required textile materials and resources
  • 1.2 Use research skills to locate sources of materials and resources
  • 1.3 Develop supply criteria and establish potential suppliers that meet those criteria based on business objectives
  • 1.4 Confirm communication channels for suppliers and establish communication processes
2. Assess and compare suppliers
  • 2.1 Analyse and compare capacity of suppliers to meet quality and sustainability requirements
  • 2.2 Determine supply conditions and how these impact the supply relationship
  • 2.3 Identify and analyse all direct and indirect financial considerations
  • 2.4 Document findings according to workplace procedures
3. Order textile materials and resources
  • 3.1 Select suppliers based on outcomes of assessment
  • 3.2 Complete orders and place with suppliers according to own and supplier business requirements
