Description
This unit of competency specifies outcomes required to participate in predetermined workplace safety arrangements in a range of workplace contexts.The unit applies to personnel who participate in workplace safety arrangements in a cleaning work context. It includes identifying workplace hazards, basic knowledge, and application of workplace emergency procedures. It applies to individuals who perform their duties alone or in a team environment, under routine supervision and without supervisory responsibilities. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this Unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Identify and report workplace hazards.
- 1.1 Assess work area and identify workplace hazards.
- 1.2 Assess workplace hazards and work restrictions affecting completion of work order.
- 1.3 Communicate and clarify issues with supervisor, team member or client.
- 1.4 Refer to Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and follow safe work methods.
- 1.5 Position safety signage and barriers to control hazards.
2. Follow workplace WHS procedures.
- 2.1 Follow work health and safety (WHS) legislation requirements in accordance with workplace procedures.
- 2.2 Participate in WHS workplace practices within scope of own role and responsibilities.
- 2.3 Actively follow emergency procedures as required by workplace standards.
- 2.4 Complete workplace safety checklist.
