Description
This unit of competency defines the skills and knowledge required to check supplier documentation, confirm the quality and quantity of received goods, arrange the unloading of goods and prepare, locate and store goods in a store or warehousing environment and utilise the application of the knowledge of warehouse systems and procedures.Where the received goods are bulk fluids or gases (i.e. large commercial quantities) see unit MEM11009 Handle/move bulk fluids/gases.Where load shifting equipment operation skills are required unit MEM11010 Operate mobile load shifting equipment should also be selected.Where the selection and use of engineering measurement is required unit MEM12023 Perform engineering measurements should also be selected.Where hazardous goods are received and handled unit MEM13003 Work safely with industrial chemicals and materials should also be selected. Where the selection and use of hand tools is required unit MEM18001 Use hand tools should also be selected.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.Where the handling of dangerous goods is a component of the application of this unit, users should check for relevant regulations and legislation with the appropriate authorities.Band: AUnit Weight: 4

1 Determine job requirements
- 1.1 Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- 1.2 Comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times
- 1.3 Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with SOPs
- 1.4 Check supplier documentation against order according to SOPs
2 Confirm the quality and quantity of received goods
- 2.1 Check the quality and quantity of goods against order and supplier documentation
- 2.2 Identify incorrect and damaged goods and take appropriate action according to SOPs
3 Arrange unloading of goods
- 3.1 Identify goods requiring special unloading procedures
- 3.2 Unload goods using manual handling or appropriate lifting equipment
- 3.3 Sign or process carrier or supplier documentation according to SOPs
4 Prepare, locate and store received goods
- 4.1 Prepare goods for storage and apply appropriate signs, codes or labels
- 4.2 Complete inventory records documentation
- 4.3 Identify correct storage location and store goods using appropriate materials handling techniques
