Description
This unit describes skills and knowledge required to control the movement of set items during shows in the entertainment and events industries. It involves preparing to operate staging elements, operating different elements during performances and finalising required tasks after performances.The unit applies to those who use some discretion and judgement and operate under broad supervision within an established framework of plans and procedures for staging operations.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Prepare for staging operations
- 1.1 Plot and run through cues during rehearsals according to directions from required personnel
- 1.2 Change cues and modify cue sheets and other documentation as required
- 1.3 Check stage prior to performances and confirm it is set according to performance requirements
- 1.4 Run checks on all operable set elements and confirm working order
- 1.5 Identify and resolve problems and faults according to performance requirements, and inform required personnel as required
2. Operate staging during performances
- 2.1 Execute scene changes on cue according to performance requirements and safety procedures
- 2.2 Identify and rectify problems or faults with staging promptly or refer to required personnel as required
- 2.3 Identify and make emergency repairs that meet performance requirements as required
3. Complete post-performance tasks
- 3.1 Clear stage as required and store materials according to organisational policies and procedures
- 3.2 Identify faulty set elements, repair to working condition or refer to specialist personnel for action as required
- 3.3 Seek feedback on own work performance and note areas for improvement
