This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to implement emergency preparedness and response systems in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.This unit is appropriate for those working in management roles.No licensing, legislation or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1. Plan and prepare for implementing emergency preparedness and response systems
  • 1.1 Access, interpret and apply emergency preparedness and response system implementation documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
  • 1.2 Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
  • 1.3 Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues and implement control measures
  • 1.4 Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
  • 1.5 Access, interpret and clarify the emergency preparedness and response system
  • 1.6 Identify and communicate roles and responsibilities of others in the emergency preparedness and response plans Identify, obtain and allocate resources and personnel required for the implementation of the system
  • 1.7 Identify training needs of individuals, and prepare training plans Consult with others on how the system is to be implemented, clarify intent and receive feedback
  • 1.8 Prepare and schedule review of the system
2. Implement the emergency preparedness and response systems
  • 2.1 Receive and communicate incident information in accordance with established emergency preparedness and response procedures
  • 2.2 Identify, assess and communicate the type and scope of the incident
  • 2.3 Identify and implement relevant emergency response and evacuation plans
  • 2.4 Implement operations facilities for incident management
  • 2.5 Implement procedures for monitoring, recording and reporting on emergency incidents
  • 2.6 Implement procedures for the collection and analysis of emergency preparedness and response data
  • 2.7 Develop and implement action plans to manage the emergency/incident
  • 2.8 Deploy required services, personnel, equipment and resources to meet emergency response/action plan
  • 2.9 Communicate incident information with emergency personnel and Incident Control
