This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to collect and log motor sport data. Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Identify motor sport data collection requirement
- 1.1 Determine job requirements from workplace instructions
- 1.2 Determine data specific requirements from team instructions and procedures and controlling body rules, category rules and supplementary regulations
- 1.3 Identify purpose and end users of data
- 1.4 Identify sources of data
2. Prepare resources for data collection
- 2.1 Develop checklists and recording sheets according to team procedures
- 2.2 Prepare manual instruments for data collection
- 2.3 Check electronic data acquisition system settings
- 2.4 Check and adjust equipment settings, calibration and system according to task requirements and equipment manufacturer instructions
- 2.5 Conduct trial runs to check equipment and procedures and make required adjustments
3. Collect data
- 3.1 Carry out data acquisition system start-up procedure according to manufacturer procedures
- 3.2 Operate data acquisition system according to its designed capacity and purpose and to manufacturer specifications and safety requirements
- 3.3 Determine potential for inaccurate results arising from variables
- 3.4 Check data for accuracy according to manufacturer specifications
- 3.5 Report problems with required data or operation of equipment to persons as required
4. Log data
- 4.1 Import selected data into data analysis software according to manufacturer procedures
- 4.2 Evaluate data for preliminary indication of non-conformity and trends or patterns
- 4.3 Collate findings from data and report to persons according to team procedures
- 4.4 Store data for later retrieval according to team procedures
5. Complete work processes
- 5.1 Conduct final inspection according to workplace procedures and confirm vehicle is ready for use
- 5.2 Clear work area and dispose of or recycle materials according to workplace procedures
- 5.3 Complete documentation according to workplace procedures
