Description
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to identify and investigate non-compliances with pest legislation and act on non-compliance issues.Pests may be weeds, vertebrate or invertebrate pests or a combination of all three.This unit applies to individuals who take responsibility for their own work. They provide and communicate solutions to a range of predictable and sometimes unpredictable problems.No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements are known to apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Identify non-compliance with legislation
- 1.1 Identify non-compliance through complaint or other means, and record
- 1.2 Notify senior staff of non-compliance
2. Investigate non-compliance
- 2.1 Determine land ownership or identity of stakeholder and confirm responsibilities of all parties
- 2.2 Obtain further information on possible non-compliance with legislation
- 2.3 Contact stakeholder to notify them of breach and provide advice on how to fulfil requirements for compliance
- 2.4 Provide stakeholder with estimates for pest control work
- 2.5 Adhere to policies of right of entry when communicating with stakeholders
- 2.6 Maintain accurate records
3. Act on non-compliance issues
- 3.1 Issue relevant notices
- 3.2 Collect evidence and report findings
- 3.3 Provide advice to the stakeholder that is consistent with legislative requirements
- 3.4 Provide support to stakeholders in the implementation of programs
