This unit of competency defines the skills and knowledge required to assemble prefabricated/formed components using a range of joining techniques in a production assembly environment. Where soft soldering is required unit MEM05003 Perform soft soldering should also be selected. Where brazing and/or silver soldering is required unit MEM05006 Perform brazing and/or silver soldering should also be selected.Where production welding skills are required unit MEM05013 Perform manual production welding should also be selected.Where the interpretation of technical drawings is required unit MEM09002 Interpret technical drawing should also be selected.Where the selection and use of engineering measuring equipment is required unit MEM12023 Perform engineering measurements should also be selected.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.Band: AUnit Weight: 4

1 Determine job requirements
  • 1.1 Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • 1.2 Comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times

2 Select and use sheet and plate assembly equipment
  • 2.1 Select assembly equipment to suit application in accordance with job requirements
  • 2.2 Use equipment in a safe manner according to SOPs
3 Assemble fabrications
  • 3.1 Assemble products and verify against job requirements
  • 3.2 Produce assembly following correct sequence of operations
  • 3.3 Join assemblies/fabrications to job requirements using specified joining techniques
  • 3.4 Test/check assembly for compliance with job requirements using SOPs
4 Protect assembly from damage
  • 4.1 Handle and store assemblies/fabrications according to SOPs and in a manner least likely to cause damage
