This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to research, source, evaluate and apply new technologies to improve operational performance in a variety of contexts.The unit applies to individuals who may work in roles such as support desk technicians, who are engaged in improving organisational processes, systems and technologies.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1. Prepare to implement new technology
  • 1.1 Confirm work brief and tasks according to organisational policies and procedures
  • 1.2 Review operational goals according to work brief
  • 1.3 Research new operational technology options
  • 1.4 Prepare evaluation checklist according to organisational requirements
  • 1.5 Evaluate and select technologies according to work brief and prepared checklist
  • 1.6 Source selected technologies according to organisational policies and procedures
2. Integrate new technology
  • 2.1 Confirm technology implementation requirements and specifications in consultation with required personnel
  • 2.2 Prepare configuration components
  • 2.3 Configure technology according to work brief
  • 2.4 Test new technology according to policies and procedures and rectify any issues within scope of own role
3. Evaluate integrated technology
  • 3.1 Assess extent to which newly integrated technology has met organisational goals and activities against evaluation checklist
  • 3.2 Determine environmental impact of new equipment
  • 3.3 Complete workplace documentation of technology implementation and evaluation outcomes according to organisational requirements
