Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to shift loads using bridge or gantry crane in accordance with relevant regulations and workplace requirements as part of work activities in the transport and logistics industry. It includes planning work for the prevailing working conditions, using controls and operating systems to manage the operation of equipment, and locating and identifying load characteristics. It also includes safely moving the load; monitoring controls and stopping, shutting down and securing equipment after the completion of operations.Work is performed under some supervision generally within a team environment.Where the load shifting equipment operated is considered to be high risk work, the operator must hold a high-risk work licence.
