Description
This unit describes the performance outcomes required to cut, prepare and install fixed and moveable glass components on vehicles.It applies to those in an automotive manufacturing environment and involves the application of skills and knowledge at a production worker level.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Plan and prepare for work
  • 1.1 Identify job specifications from work orders and work instructions
  • 1.2 Identify relevant workplace procedures
  • 1.3 Select materials to meet work requirements and job specifications
2. Fabricate templates, mark and cut glass openings
  • 2.1 Fabricate templates to meet job specifications
  • 2.2 Use templates to mark and cut glass opening using workplace methods and equipment
  • 2.3 Prepare vehicle panels and trims for installing glass components
3. Install glass components
  • 3.1 Identify and select adhesives or glass retaining systems according to work order and job specification
  • 3.2 Install glass components according to vehicle manufacturer specifications
  • 3.3 Check installed glass components against specifications and leak testing, taking corrective action as required
4. Complete work processes
  • 4.1 Clean work area, disposing of recycling materials according to workplace procedures
  • 4.2 Check, clean and maintain tools and equipment, and store according to workplace procedures
  • 4.3 Complete workplace documentation according to workplace procedures
