Description
This course is principally designed for banking and
finance officers
employed or seeking employment in banking and financial institutions and covers
a wide spectrum of the finance industry.
The aim of the course is to enhance the vocational skills and knowledge of
those employed in the banking and financial institutions at the operation and
middle management level and to provide an academic basis which will facilitate
the prospects of those who aspire to management positions in the future.
There is no requirement that students must be employed in the industry in order
to complete the course.
Upon completion of the course the graduate will:
-be able to prepare, analyse and interpret the accounts of a range of
enterprises from those of a sole trader to a company;
-be technically proficient in their knowledge of the Australian legal system,
and the law applicable to contract, banking, sale of goods, consumer credit and
consumer protection;
- be able to understand the law applicable to partnerships, companies,
securities, debt collection and trade practices;
-have an understanding of broad economic principles and the economic
environment as it impacts on the banking and finance industry;
-develop personal behaviour skills that are appropriate for use within the
banking and finance industry;
-be competent in the application of software operations of computers;
-have gained an understanding of the major institutional, conceptual and
analytical information required in the Australian banking and finance industry.
AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE OF BANKERS
The Associate Diploma of Business (Banking and Finance) will be accepted by the
Australian Institute of Bankers as providing the academic basis of associate
membership (AAIB).
