1. The training requirements for the traditional stage 3B have been superceded by the requirements of Engery Safety WA as of 1 April 2003. The requirements for apprentices to apply to Energy Safety(WA) for a Gas permit, Class G restricted to the Installation of Type A appliances are M1191 Gas Standards Legislation, M1192 Gas Safety, M1193 Basic Combustion and Flueing Principles, and 29058 Gas Installations 2 Type A Appliances .

2. The requirements to apply to the Office of Energy Safety for a Gas Fitting permit, Class G to the servicing of type A appliances are as for note 1 plus 29059 Gas Servicing Type A appliances. The modules in general notes 1 and 2 and in the core as 3B replacement are the copyright of Swan TAFE and premission must be obtained from SWAN TAFE.

CERTIFICATE OF TRADE STUDIES: Successful completion of the modules and end of Stage examinations entitles the Student to a Certificate of Trade Studies. Students must pass both Practical and Theory components to obtain a Certificate of Trade Studies. The following formula shall be used: Average percentage of the theory examination mark gained and college practical assessment for Stages 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B and 3A. A practical assessment is conducted for Stage 3B which the student must successfully complete in full. This has been superceded in 2003. To be eligible for the certificate, an apprentice must reach a pass standard in each stage. However, failure to achieve this standard may be redeemed by an apprentice gaining a pass in a supplementary examination. The gas compoment has now been superceded see general notes 1 and 2. Successful completion of the Gas Installing Modules 6.1to 6.15 inclusive and 6.17 to 6.19 inclusive at a 65 pass or better entitles the student to apply to SECWA for a Gasfitting Permit Classes 'A' and 'C'. Successful completion of the Gas Servicing Module 6.16 at a 65 pass or better entitles the student to apply to SECWA for a Gasfitting Permit Classes 'B' and 'D'.
