State Implementation and Classification
Description
To provide foundation studies in the Plumbing and Gasfitting trades.
To provide the theoretical basis and the development of skills and safe working practices commonly found in the Plumbing and Gasfitting trade, supplementary to employer-provided work practice and on-the-job experience in the industry.
To prepare students to meet the requirements of the Australia/NZ Reciprocity Association agreement. (This is an agreement between all States of Australia and New Zealand, Britain and other overseas countries
in relation to recognition of qualifications of plumbers at:
-journeyman operative level, and
-advanced plumbing levels.

VET Info Notes
2. The proponent for this course is SWAN TAFE on behalf of the WA Department of Training. This course has been accredited by the Training Accreditation Council (TAC) in Western Australia.
3. This course is an interim course to be used for apprentice training in WA pending the endorsement by ANTA (and implementation approval by WADT) of the proposed BCS02 training package qualification BCS30102 Certificate III in Services (General Plumbing). Note: This draft training package has changed since this program was developed. The course has been amended in 2003 to update and to clarify some components.
4. Further information on this program may be obtained from the Manager, Training Products Information Services (TPIS) at the WA Department of Training.
5. This course has been edited by TPIS (QA & R) on 05/02/03 to incorporate changes to competencies as set out in the Plumbing and Services Training Package released by Construction Training Australia (CTA) ITC on the 28/01/03.
