To provide the student with:
- a comprehensive knowledge of the regulations relating to
servicing of gas appliances.
- the experience to diagnose faults in gas appliances given
their history and/or signs.
- the experience to correct faults in gas appliances.
- the experience to perform preventative maintenance on gas
appliances.
- the experience to carry out a complete service to any gas
appliance component.
- a comprehensive knowledge of the regulations relating to
servicing of gas appliances.
- the experience to diagnose faults in gas appliances given
their history and/or signs.
- the experience to correct faults in gas appliances.

Examination of one hour duration 20%
Laboratory techniques involving the diagnosis and
remedy of faults in three different appliances of
three hours duration 30%
A pass in each component is required.
NOTE 1: The content of this specialised course is
designed to include material of a
potentially dangerous nature. Therefore,
the SECWA requires graduates to attain a
minimum B pass mark.
NOTE 2: Successful completion of this subject
qualifies the student to apply to the
State Energy Commission of WA for the
Certificate of Competency Endorsements 'B'
and 'D'.
