Description
To provide the participant with the knowledge and practical skills essential
for the management of human and physical resources within a retail organisation
by consideration of the functional aspects of management of planning,
organising and control with an introduction to the personnel function of staff
selection, training, supervision and industrial relations.
To provide an understanding and appreciation of the role and importance of the
sales supervision and administration function within a retailing or marketing
organisation.
To provide participants with the opportunity to undertake a field study
research assignment with a retail enterprise to be able to formulate an entry
level project on selling techniques.
NOTE: This module contains a 25 nominal hour field study research
assignment or project to be undertaken with a retail enterprise as an
independent study component of the module.

off-the-job training in a variety of modes.
Strategies should be selected to reflect the nature of the learning outcomes
and the needs of the participant.
Some areas of content may be common to more than one learning outcome and
therefore integration may be appropriate.
Participants with learning empowerment skills may negotiate assessment methods
with the facilitator, using innovative approaches to demonstrate competency in
this module and where appropriate in other Stage 2 modules of the course.
Problem solving processes must be incorporated where appropriate in this module
