To develop knowledge and skills in effectively
communicating with children, families and staff in a variety of children's services settings.

Range of Variables
1 The theoretical elements of this module
could be delivered either through the open
learning mode or in a group learning
context. However, the nature of this
module makes it essential that ongoing
interaction with a group of people at an
intimate level (eg. a work group) occur in
order that the practical skills presented
are practised.
2 Delivery of this module requires a room
which provides space for participants to
move freely and supports the use of an
experiential learning format. As noise
levels could be high the classroom must be
sound proofed or sufficiently private for
confidentiality to be maintained and other
groups not be disturbed.
Furniture should provide relaxed seating
and be easily moved around the room, eg.
