To provide knowledge and understanding of
developmental theories and the principles of
human development from birth to death.

Range of Variables
1 The intent of this module is to give a
broad overview of human development as a
foundation for the later study of detailed
age related child development, family and
professional studies.
2 For this module all learning outcomes are
theoretical and the application of knowledge
to care giving is not covered. The module
could be delivered either through open
learning mode OR in a group context. In
either learning mode students require access
to a range of developmental texts and video
material. It is highly desirable that
students have access to facilitated group
discussion of issues that relate to specific
age groups and to the issues of death and
dying.
3 For the purpose of delivery of content
within Learning Outcome 5 the birth to 5
broad overview of human development as a
