1. CORE UNITS
MANDATORY CORE UNITS: Learners to complete all FOUR (4) core units listed below -

2. SPECIALIST UNITS
MANDATORY SECTOR SPECIALIST UNITS: Learners to complete TEN (10) other units with at least ONE (1) unit from the following areas of the Visual Arts, Craft & Design Training Package:
Calligraphy, Ceramics, Digital Art, Drawing, Glass, Jewellery, Painting, Prints, Sculpture, Textiles/Fibre, Video Art, Wood, Photoimaging.

In addition, at least ONE (1) unit must be selected from the following areas of the Visual Arts, Craft & Design Training Package:
Professional Practice; Design; Research and Innovation.

OTHER ELECTIVE UNITS: Remaining units may be selected from other areas of the Visual Arts, Craft and Design Training Package or any relevant endorsed training package at the appropriate level.

The total package of units must meet the requirements of the Australian Qualifications Framework Descriptor for a Certificate III. In all cases selection of electives must be guided by the job outcomes sought, local industry requirements and the level of the qualification.

This qualification was updated on 18 September 2008 by the DET to reflect a national continuous improvement version change. The change mostly consisted of removing Key Competencies which were replaced by Employability Skills in all units. Accordingly, all CUV03 units within this qualification received a new national code (ie, B or C version) and a new TAFEWA ID unit number.
