Description
This qualification reflects the role of Allied Health Assistants (AHA) who provide therapeutic -and program related- support to allied health professionals, specifically Physiotherapists. The AHA worker is required to conduct therapeutic and program related activities under the guidance of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and/or other allied health professionals. Supervision may be direct, indirect or remote and must occur within organisation requirements. The AHA worker is required to identify client circumstances that may need additional input from the allied health professional.
The Physiotherapy- specialised AHA worker can be engaged to work in the specialty areas of physiotherapy as well as being able to be employed generically in the delivery of allied health assistance services. Qualified Certificate IV (Physiotherapy) Allied health assistants, in conjunction with the allied health professional, may have responsibility for supervising other allied health assistance workers.
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.
