Description

This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required to diagnose, analyse, evaluate, design and modify automotive electrical and mechanical systems. It is suitable for those working within the automotive industry at the forefront of the implementation of new technologies.

Job roles/employment outcomes
The Diploma of Automotive Technology is intended to prepare new employees or recognise and develop existing workers who are performing advanced diagnosis and design tasks in the automotive industry.

Employment outcomes targeted by this qualification include:
advanced diagnostic technician
automotive system designer.

Application
This qualification is suitable for an Australian Apprenticeship pathway.

Packaging Rules
To be awarded the Diploma of Automotive Technology, competency must be achieved in twelve (12) units of competency.
- one (1) core unit of competency
- eleven (11) elective units of competency, as specified below:
- a minimum of seven (7) elective units of competency from Group A
- a maximum of four (4) elective units of competency from Group B, drawn from any combination of:
- units not already chosen from Group A and Group B
- a maximum of two (2) units available in this Training Package, other endorsed Training Packages and accredited courses, where those units are aligned to Certificate IV qualifications or higher.

Note: no more than two (2) units of competency may be drawn from Assessment and Training units of competency in the AUR05 Automotive Industry Retail, Service and Repair Training Package.
