This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to research and develop own ideas about light and colour for integration into a body of creative work.It applies to individuals who have expertise in the use of light and colour and work across art forms and design disciplines. This expertise may be applied in traditional or digital contexts. At this level, the individual works independently and has demonstrated expertise within a body of professional creative work.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at time of publication.

1. Research light and colour
- 1.1 Research, from oral, written and visual sources, information and ideas about the use of light and colour in art and design practice
- 1.2 Research the use of light and colour in historical and contemporary contexts
- 1.3 Research the use of light and colour in other creative disciplines and in external contexts
- 1.4 Consider intellectual property and other legislative requirements relevant to research and development of ideas
2. Develop own ideas about light and colour
- 2.1 Analyse and extract relevant ideas and information from research
- 2.2 Reflect on the application of light and colour in own practice
- 2.3 Develop informed opinions about the use of light and colour in own work and the work of others
