Description
This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to operate hydro extractors throughout the hydro extraction process to meet laundry specifications and quality requirements.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Prepare equipment for operation
  • 1.1 Procedures for hydro machine start up and stopping are performed in accordance with manufacturers' and workplace requirements
  • 1.2 All safety procedures relating to safe operation are followed
  • 1.3 Operator manuals are accessed as required
2 Operate hydro extraction machine
  • 2.1 Machines are loaded according to type and laundry loading procedures
  • 2.2 Machines are monitored during operation to ensure correct balance is maintained
  • 2.3 Machines are loaded and unloaded using appropriate manual handling techniques or by correctly operating loading and unloading equipment
  • 2.4 Operating faults are identified and reported
  • 2.5 Records are completed
