Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to model high standards of performance, reflect on clinical work practices and contribute to organisation processes for systemic improvement. This unit applies to enrolled nurses, registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, who work in collaboration with registered nurses, and under direct or indirect supervisory arrangements aligned to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia regulatory authority legislative requirements.The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice.

1. Model high standards of performance
  • 1.1 Make own clinical performance consistent with the organisation's vision and objectives
  • 1.2 Identify and use opportunities to provide support to colleagues

2. Reflect on clinical work practices and potential improvements
  • 2.1 Observe and reflect on the effectiveness of work practices in meeting desired outcomes

  • 2.3 Discuss and explore challenges and ideas with registered nurse and interdisciplinary health care team members

3. Participate in processes for systemic improvement
  • 3.1 Recognise and take opportunities to provide input to organisation process for systemic improvements to clinical guidelines for nursing practice
  • 3.2 Represent and reflect the perspectives and experience of self and colleagues in organisation forums
  • 3.3 Engage with other health professionals about systemic aspects of clinical practice using accepted terminology
  • 3.4 Present and argue informed and substantiated positions on ideas
  • 3.5 Identify and articulate issues and practical processes for implementing change
  • 3.6 Respond to questions about ideas expressed with confidence and relevant information
