Description
This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to install an approved prefabricated wastewater treatment plant and on-site effluent disposal. In some jurisdictions, this unit of competency may form part of accreditation, licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Prepare the work.
- 1.1 Access, read and determine treatment plant and disposal system type installation requirements from relevant job plans and specifications, codes Australian standards, manufacturer’s specifications and jurisdictional requirements.
- 1.2 Identify and apply workplace policies and procedures, work health and safety (WHS) and environmental requirements.
- 1.3 Create a materials list and collect materials.
- 1.4 Select and check serviceability of appropriate tools and equipment including personal protective equipment (PPE).
2 Install treatment plant and disposal system.
- 2.1 Set out and excavate site to required depth.
- 2.2 Prepare the excavated base for installation.
- 2.3 Install a treatment plant and on-site disposal system.
3 Clean up.
- 3.1 Clear the work area, and dispose of, reuse or recycle materials in accordance with state and territory legislation and workplace policies and procedures.
- 3.2 Clean tools and equipment, check for serviceability and report any damage, and store and secure.
