Description
This unit describes the performance outcomes required to install, and replace and adjust mechanical units and assemblies.It applies to those in an automotive manufacturing environment and involves the application of skills and knowledge at a production worker level.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Plan and prepare
- 1.1 Interpret drawings and work orders to establish work requirements
- 1.2 Select lifting gear and operate according to workplace procedures
- 1.3 Select and inspect tools and equipment and report any faults
2. Install and test mechanical units and assemblies
- 2.1 Select fasteners, fittings and materials for installation
- 2.2 Install and test mechanical units and assemblies according to job specifications and work health and safety (WHS) procedures
- 2.3 Use tools and equipment to install and replace assemblies
3. Remove, replace and test mechanical units and assemblies
- 3.1 Access and interpret assembly information from manufacturer specifications
- 3.2 Remove and replace mechanical units and assemblies according to manufacturer specifications and WHS procedures
- 3.3 Test mechanical units and assemblies according to manufacturer specifications
4. Complete work processes
- 4.1 Clean and check work area and store tools and equipment according to workplace procedures
- 4.2 Identify, tag and report faulty equipment
- 4.3 Collect waste material and recycle or dispose of according to workplace procedures
- 4.4 Complete workplace documents according to workplace procedures
