Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Plan and prepare for suppressing airborne contaminant operations
  • 1.1 Access, interpret and apply environmental and airborne contaminant suppression documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
  • 1.2 Obtain, interpret and clarify/confirm the requirement for airborne contaminant suppression through shift briefings, handover details or procedures before proceeding
  • 1.3 Select airborne contaminant suppression method and ensure compliance
  • 1.4 Identify, address and report environmental issues
  • 1.5 Identify any areas that require communicating with others and communicate appropriately
  • 1.6 Identify emergency procedures and ensure safety of others, plant and equipment
2 Eliminate, suppress, minimise airborne contaminants
  • 2.1 Select appropriate procedure/s and/or equipment to eliminate, suppress or minimise airborne contaminants
  • 2.2 Operate airborne contaminant suppression equipment and monitor using appropriate method for site conditions
  • 2.3 Adjust airborne contaminant suppression activities according to schedule, weather or site conditions
  • 2.4 Act upon and report on monitoring systems and alarms
  • 2.5 Recognise and respond to hazardous and emergency situations
  • 2.6 Maintain written records
3 Carry out operator maintenance
  • 3.1 Carry out inspections and fault-finding activities
  • 3.2 Carry out routine operational servicing, lubrication and housekeeping tasks
  • 3.3 Carry out minor maintenance
  • 3.4 Provide support to maintenance personnel in preparing for, or during minor and major maintenance tasks
