Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to refine a particular drawing technique to a high level of technical expertise.It applies to professional practitioners with a high level of drawing proficiency working in many industries. The particular drawing technique may be electronic, manual, technical or artistic and will vary depending on the needs of the practice. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of at the time of publication.

1. Evaluate and select drawing technique
- 1.1 Examine the needs of own practice in terms of drawing technique
- 1.2 Consider the external factors that influence drawing in professional practice
- 1.3 Reflect on the commercial and artistic opportunities offered by having expertise in particular techniques
- 1.4 Consider the limitations and constraints of particular techniques
- 1.5 Select particular drawing techniques for refinementbased on their suitability for the purpose or for a particular brief
2. Refine selected drawing technique
- 2.1 Establish and follow safe work practices for selected technique
- 2.2 Extend the capability of the drawing technique
- 2.3 Develop own ways of working with the technique to create individual style
- 2.4 Identify and resolve technical problems with the drawing technique
3. Produce professional, finished drawings
- 3.1 Produce a body of drawings that shows command of, and confidence in, the selected technique
- 3.2 Produce drawings that are suited to the context in which they are to be used
- 3.3 Evaluate own drawings and reflect on professional development needs and opportunities
- 3.4 Seek feedback from others on own drawing technique and take action accordingly
