Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to pack-up a mobile crane and store tools and lifting equipment in accordance with workplace procedures, environmental requirements and manufacturer specifications.It includes inspecting tools and lifting equipment, securing outriggers, packing and storing tools and equipment, and completing necessary records.Work is performed with limited or minimum supervision.People achieving competence in this unit must hold the relevant high risk work licence prior to undertaking mobile crane operation, dogging or rigging work.Work must be carried out in compliance with the relevant state/territory authority mobile crane operations licence/permit requirements and regulations, codes of practice, rules and/or guidelines.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Inspect lifting equipment
  • 1.1 Job hazards are identified and required action is taken to minimise, control or eliminate identified hazards
  • 1.2 Operation plan, safe work method statement and other work specifications are reviewed and followed
  • 1.3 Crane crew and relevant personnel are briefed in accordance with operation plan and safe work method statement
  • 1.4 Damaged and defective lifting equipment is tagged and segregated for testing, repair or disposal by a competent person
2 Secure outriggers or attachments
  • 2.1 Outriggers, counterweights or attachments are secured and stowed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and operation plan
  • 2.2 Outrigger or attachments packing is dismantled and stowed securely
3 Pack and store tools and lifting equipment
  • 3.1 Lifting equipment is cleaned as required and stored appropriately in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 3.2 Additional lifting equipment is returned to depot, marked off and stored in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 3.3 Travel path is confirmed with operation plan, safe work method statement and other work specifications
  • 3.4 Mobile crane is configured for travel in accordance with workplace procedures and manufacturer specifications
4 Complete records
  • 4.1 Workplace documentation is completed in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 4.2 Required workplace records are updated and processed accurately and promptly
