To provide theoretical and practical training for technical support staff wishing to work with the mining engineering profession.

Presentation of training in a competency base format, mostly off the job, but with a substantial practical component.

Provide the academic requirements for a surface mine ventilation officer and restricted quarry manager.

Creation of a clear career pathway into the Diploma and Advanced Diploma of surface mining and the academic requirements for the quarry manager's qualification.
