This classification is approved for the purposes of conducting a two year pilot that meets the following criteria: • must be commenced by 30 September 2015; • be limited to 20 participants; • participants must be employed by a participating WA government department or agency for the duration of the cadetship; • participants and employing agencies consent to take part in a formal evaluation of the pilot; and • a formal evaluation report and final recommendation on the pilot must be completed and presented to the State Training Board by 30 January 2018.

Description

This specialist qualification covers the competencies required of persons responsible for the coordination and conduct of investigations. Electives should reflect the responsibilities of the individual and the job skills required for effective performance. Where a free choice of electives is possible in the qualification packaging rules, electives may also be drawn from other Training Packages to reflect the work context and career plans of the individual.

Eleven (11) units of competency are required for this qualification:
- eight (8) core units
- three (3) elective units:
- a maximum of one (1) unit from Group A;
- two (2) units from Group B or from elsewhere within this Training Package, or another endorsed Training Package or Accredited Course.

Units selected should not duplicate content already covered by other units in this qualification.
All elective units must be selected from an equivalent qualification level or higher, unless otherwise stated.
For this qualification, a maximum of one (1) unit from Certificate IV level may be used.
