4 Common Industry Core Units (Group 1) plus
8 Fishing Operations Qualification Stream (Group 2) plus
9 Elective Units of which a minimum of 6 must be selected from the Fishing
Operations Qualification Stream Work Options Elective Units (Group 3) (at least
2 of these 6 Elective Units must come from within the Fishing Option).

The other 3 Elective Units can be selected from the Fishing Operations
Qualification Stream Work Options and Elective Units (Group 3) and/or from the
list of General Elective Units (Group 4). Of these 3 Elective Units, 1 Elective
Unit can be selected from S170 Certificate III in Seafood Industry (Fishing
Charter Operations), S173 Certificate II in Seafood Industry (Fishing
Operations) or S175 Certificate IV in Seafood Industry (Fishing Operations).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS = 21 UNITS

LICENCES
The issuing of Certificates of Competency (licences) for vessel operations and
maintenance is the responsibility of the relevant Regulatory Authority in each
State/Territory. Regulatory Authorities may set additional requirements to the
units listed in the various Options for particular Certificates of Competency
such as sea time. Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) awarding this
qualification do not issue Certificates of Competency.

Individuals seeking recognition as a COXSWAIN must select and attain all units
listed under this Option in Group 3 in addition to the Fishing Operations
Qualification Stream Core Units (Group 2) units.

Individuals seeking recognition as a SKIPPER 3 must select and attain all units
listed under the Coxswain Option in Group 3, except SFISHIP201A, plus all units
listed under the Skipper 3 Option in Group 3, plus the Fishing Operations
Qualification Stream Core Units (Group 2).

Individuals seeking recognition as a MARINE ENGINE DRIVER (MEDII) must select
and attain all units listed under this Option (Group 3), in addition to the
folllowing units S1734, S1707, S1710, S1713, S1716, S1717 and S1718. These are
included in the Fishing Operations Qualification Stream Core Units (Group 2),
the Coxswain Option (Group 3) or Skipper 3 Option (Group 3).


This training program is a representation of the qualification SFI30200 taken
from the Seafood Industry Training Package SFI00 which should be consulted for
full descriptions of requirements. SFI00 is accredited until 31/01/2003.

their State accrediting body.
