State Implementation and Classification
Description
To provide the knowledge and skills required for a student prior to gaining
employment in an industry where marine skills are used.
To prepare students without Year 12 entry requirements for
advanced studies in Nautical Science.
Schedule
1. CORE
Learners are to complete 100 hours of monitored work experience each in module 67629 Work Experience (Fishing) - 34 hours lecture supervision is allocated.

the learner can practise the skills and meet the requirements of recognised
competency schedules.
2 CREDIT TRANSFER
Upon successful completion of the technical training section of this course,
the learner will be credited with the relevant modules of the course. Those
learners requiring an MC5 should be aware that the pre-sea modules are similar
to the modules in the Certificate of Vessel Operations. The Certificate of
Vessel Operations modules require 15 months sea time as a pre-requisite and 30
months sea time prior to sitting the examination which is conducted to meet the
Department of Transport's requirements.
