Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide opportunities for community groups and individuals to participate and design cooperative arrangements for addressing common concerns.This unit applies to workers in both health and community sectors and/or a community development work context. Workers at this level will be part of a professional team and under the guidance of a supervisor.The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice.

1. Contribute to planning processes
- 1.1 Identify key community stakeholders
- 1.2 Identify and document community strengths and key priorities to be addressed
- 1.3 Participate in planning to ensure key priorities are addressed
- 1.4 Participate in evaluating processes to ensure they are forward looking and proactive
2. Promote and engage community participation in planning
- 2.1 Use appropriate interpersonal and networking skills to enlist support from key people and groups within the community
- 2.2 Proactively develop and provide opportunities for community input to planning provision of services
3. Support existing community activities
- 3.1 Review existing community activities and resources, based on changing community priorities
- 3.2 Provide support and assistance to existing community activities to obtain additional resources required for effective operation
- 3.3 Provide support to community groups to monitor and evaluate processes, progress and outcomes of activities
- 3.4 Provide appropriate support to community groups to become self managing in the implementation of plans
