This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to maintain energy efficient work practices and contribute to systems improvement with regard to energy efficiency. The unit applies to a wide range of roles across all industry sectors. No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1. Identify requirements to maintain and contribute to energy efficiency
  • 1.1 Identify and review requirements to maintain energy efficiency
  • 1.2 Identify benefits relating to energy efficiency and the forest and wood products industry
  • 1.3 Using a life-cycle analysis, compare the benefits of using forest and wood products to other building materials
2. Follow and promote energy efficient work practices
  • 2.1 Adhere to site energy efficiency policy and procedures, including those related to recycling and waste management
  • 2.2 Operate equipment to ensure maximum energy efficiency
  • 2.3 Monitor own work practices to maintain energy efficiency
  • 2.4 Promote positive aspects of the forest and wood products industry in comparison to other building materials to internal and external stakeholders
3. Contribute to systems improvement with regard to energy efficiency
  • 3.1 Contribute to and support reviews of operations for improvements in energy efficiency
  • 3.2 Identify opportunities for efficiencies in consumption or raw materials and progress through appropriate personnel
  • 3.3 Identify opportunities for innovation in energy efficiency and progress through established channels.
