State Implementation and Classification
Description
This course is designed to provide a level of training in information
technology suitable for graduates to be employed in a variety of support roles
in the information technology industry.
Learners undertaking the diploma will develop knowledge, skills and
competencies to perform a range of general and specific computing and
information technology functions. Learners will develop planning, decision
making and other general work place skills. Graduates should be able to plan
and manage their work tasks under broad guidance, and be able to work
effectively in teams. They should be able to provide assistance to others, and
to a limited extent, plan and manage the work of others.
Two streams allow a learner to specialise in technical and user support or
programming and software development.

NOTE: This course divides into two streams. Learners will be required to complete either: Core Requirements plus Technical User Support Stream plus electives as stated OR Core Requirements plus Programming and Software Development Stream plus electives as stated.

TECHNICAL AND USER SUPPORT STREAM GROUP 1 Select 2 modules from Group 1. GROUP 3 Select 260 hours from Group 3. Additional modules may be selected from the National Information Technology Curriculum, 60 hours of which are designated at ASF level 3 or above and 200 hours designated at ASF level 4 or above. GROUP 4 Select 3 modules from Group 4. PROGRAMMING AND SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT STREAM GROUP 1 Select 2 modules from Group 1. GROUP 2 Select 240 hours from Group 2. Additional modules may be selected from the National Information Technology Curriculum, 60 hours designated at ASF level 3 or above and 180 hours designated at ASF level 4 or above. GROUP 1
