Description

This qualification reflects the role of skilled operators who use a broad range of hospitality skills combined with sound knowledge of industry operations. They operate independently or with limited guidance from others and use discretion to solve non-routine problems. Many individuals have supervisory responsibilities and plan, monitor and evaluate the work of team members.

Job roles
This qualification provides a pathway to work as a team leader or supervisor in hospitality organisations such as restaurants, hotels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops.

Possible job titles include:
bar supervisor or team leader
concierge
duty manager
food and beverage supervisor or team leader
forecast analyst (accommodation services)
front office supervisor or team leader
housekeeping supervisor or team leader
gaming supervisor or team leader
reservation analyst
shift manager.

Twenty one (21) units must be completed:
- ten (10) core units
- eleven (11) elective units, consisting of:
- seven (7) units from the elective units listed in the qualification outline
- four (4) units from the elective units listed in the qualification outline, elsewhere in SIT12 Training Package, or any other current Training Package or accredited course.

The selection of electives must be guided by the job outcome sought, local industry requirements and the complexity of skills appropriate to the AQF level of this qualification.
