Description

To allow the learner to:

- develop skills/competencies as detailed within the Sugar Milling
standards ( registered with the National Training Board) which
specifically address the skill requirements of the learner's
workplace occupation/vocational destination (ie job description);

- develop foundation skills/competencies and technical knowledge
that are pre-requisite for subsequent training in the sugar milling
industry and which could be applied in other occupations outside
the sugar milling industry (for example other food processing
industries);

- develop personal and interpersonal skills, attitudes, work habits
and communication skills which should prove beneficial in the
workplace and in social interactions;

- develop an awareness of workplace health and safety issues
and skills and attitudes which promote safe work habits in the
workplace;

- provide the opportunity to progress (with full credit transfer) from
Certificate I to the Certificates II & III in Sugar Milling dependent upon
individual aptitudes and ability levels;

- continue with career progression in the sugar milling industry.

Schedule
1. CORE

Certificate I in Sugar Milling will be awarded upon successful completion of: - at least one approved Sugar Milling training program from one or more streams resulting in achievement of competencies in an approved Sugar Milling vocational destination at ASF 1, and - additional modules from any stream modules and/or the general elective modules so that the training program/s plus additional modules total at least 320 hours.
