Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to inspect quality of work against job specifications.It applies to individuals who perform a range of mainly routine tasks in various sectors of the printing and graphic arts industry, using limited practical skills and fundamental knowledge in a defined context. They generally work under direct supervision. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Carry out inspection of quality during job
  • 1.1 Job is collected/received and inspected against job specifications according to enterprise standards and procedures
  • 1.2 Quality specifications and tolerances are understood and meet client requirements as well as enterprise and industry standards
  • 1.3 Variation to standards are monitored and corrective action taken to rectify problems according to enterprise procedures within the defined work area
  • 1.4 Inspection and testing procedures are applied at regular intervals to determine conformity with specifications and to minimise waste
  • 1.5 Unsatisfactory work is identified according to predetermined standards and enterprise procedures
2. Complete documentation
  • 2.1 Documentation is accurately completed to meet required enterprise procedures
  • 2.2 Problems and suggestions for improvement are documented and passed on to appropriate personnel
